Hey guys! For school I'm making a poster for Ian and Thomas' Excellent Calculus Adventure. I think it's going to be really cool and I think it will be fun if I post every step that I do on this thread. So here it goes.

I started with this sketch...

Image

So I set off to start photographing the elements. First the trash can...
Image

Then I might use this pillar thing for the base of it, so here is the photo.
Image

Then to photoshop to cut them out...

That's where I'm at right now! I'll post more later!

So it's supposed to be in a heavenly scene, kinda like in Semi-Pro when he goes to heaven to see his mom.... So I was looking for good stock photography but didn't want to pay $20 for one picture of clouds so it's time to comb the internet... Here are some of the pics i will use to make the background.

Looks good so far. I feel like it should have a taste of back to the future in it, such as:

I just think it'd be hilarious to see the trash can look like it's going really fast (Flames, or speed lines, or so forth). But that probably wouldn't be a very serious thing to do.

Keep it up buddy!

I took the two pieces and slapped them together, it looks like the perspective is pretty close so this is going to turn out sweet!

It looks pretty cool, I think it looks a little high in the frame but once you add more things to the side and a title it might fit a little better. Nice work!

Are you planning on retouching the column/stand thing? Just curious.

No sure. Do you think it looks too dirty?

Ok so the type treatment for the top part is the hardest... I'm not too good at it but I'm happy with what I came up with. Here is a look into the process!

At first I wanted it pretty straight-up since the poster had a kind of 'epic' feel. But really the sketched out one fits a lot better.

Now we had to pull off the photos of Ian and I or the whole thing was not going to work, here's a little from our shoot. We need a studio.....
