Post My new job April 22nd, 2010, 4:55 pm
Hey buddies! I got a job, I started today! The whole thing was pretty sudden: my last day of school was Tuesday, and that night I got a call for an interview Wednesday(I applied from craigslist), and I started on Thursday (today). The job is pretty cool, I'm just doing a bunch of random website development stuff for partnerfirst.org. It has to do with real estate or something!

Right now it's in an office located kinda near castle park, but in a month or so they're moving to an office in corona, not too far away that's gonna be much bigger because right now they have 2 separate offices. The plan is that they have hired me for 60 days as a private contractor or whatever and they told me that after those 60 days they evaluate me and then may or may not hire me for full time. The thing is though, from the nature of the project that we're doing it seems like they just hired a few people to get their site all automated and nice and then they'll let us go. If that happens it's fine, they're paying me pretty good so 2 months of that will be not too shabby and give me lots of room to figure out what I wanna do.

Going from my super laid back schedule from the last few years to a 9-5 job is hard to get used to! I know it sounds like I'm lazy (it's cause I am) so hopefully I'll be able to adjust to that alright. For now though, I'm just gonna roll with it, try to learn as much as I can, and see what happens!

Sounds great!

Steve you are so great at thinkning things through and seeing the best out of it.
I hope that it's a great learning experience and will help you get into the 9 to5 thing.

Congratulations!

Steve, I am so thrilled for you. I love that you got a job within days of your last class. Even if this only lasts for the 60 days, I love your attitude about the whole thing. It's a chance to gain experience, learn about the business, get used to 9-5 and make a little money. So cool. And yeah, (at least for me) you never really get used to the 9-5. So don't feel bad about that. I would be lazy too if I could.

Glad to hear your great news man! Even if you don't stay with this job, you at least get experience, and it's another chance to network (outside of school). See, you were worrying over nothin. Anyone out there would be lucky to hire such a Kool Kat, like yourself. Best of luck with the gig...and really enjoy your weekends - the ONLY time you can be lazy now. I can't wait for an update on the projects you'll be working on.
