 School Stuff January 8th, 2010, 1:32 pm
So I just wanted to post about some worries that I've been having. This is more for me to get these thoughts out of my head than it is a blog for people to read; but feel free if you wish. If not, I won't be hurt by the lack of views or anything.
Anyway, I am worried that I won't get the classes I need fir the spring semester. I got a really late registration date (feb. 3rd) and classes start on the 16th. As you all know I have to take Math (which I loathe) that is the only class I "need." The other classes I was just taking for fun and so I could be full time so I could be put back on my family's insurance. I have my schedule all figured out. It is just a waiting game now. I have to hope and cross my fingers that the classes don't fill up, that I can still get in them. Oh please, oh please, oh please!!!
I hate being stressed out over classes. I thought I would get a better reg. date since I am a returning student (guess the guy at admissions was wrong). Oh well, I guess I am just stuck waiting and hoping that the classes I need will still be there waiting for me two weeks before the term starts. I hope so!
Anywho, that was just something that I wanted to get off my mind and I thought that by writing it down it would help. I'll keep my post updated and let you know if I get the classes. Bye, Bye

I really feel your pain. As if school isn't stressful enough, you have to worry that you can actually get INTO what you need. You know my situation...Grrrrr....but I kept telling myself that there could be a REALLY good reason for us not getting into any given class. EXAMPLE: douchebag for a professor(?). Maybe this is another lie I tell myself to get me through the tough times, but I can't help thinking that there could be worse things for me to stress over than school *it's all about perspective*. In the end it will get done, and how much control do we have over any of this dumb registration stuff? I aways have an ear for a rant, a shoulder to cry on, eyes to read your thoughts, and arms for a hug.

I love you Bethany! You are awesome. Thank you so much for being you!
I understand what you mean about having no control over registration its just that I feel stuck at this one point in my life. I'm suppose to be transferring and things just keep popping up to keep me from taking that next step. I guess I should try looking at it from a different perspective, like you said. I just wish I could know the reason for the delay.
Thanks again Bethany, and you know I am always here for you too! XOXOXOX

My thought: If you don't get the class, just take it at another school online. You've done it in the past and been successful right? Then you don't have to stress about being able to transfer!

Re: School Stuff January 31st, 2010, 10:49 am
Thanks Beth. However, I have not been successful with taking classes online through another school. I've taken online classes before but they've all been through RCC. Plus taking them through a different school is crazy expensive and I don't think I could afford it. Also, with math (since I'm not in any way good at it) I think I need to have someone I can interact with through office hours or something so that I can try and learn enough to pass the class. Hehe Thanks for the suggestion though. I only have to wait 3 more days before I find out if I get the classes I need/want. Cross those fingers!

Re: School Stuff January 31st, 2010, 10:05 pm
Ok, so it is time for me to have MY pitty party about school again!!! I wasn't able to get into a class I needed for Winter 2010 (BUS 104). OK...so I talked to my advisor, and she said "you can take it in spring, and then take BUS 105 during the summer". The set back: I would graduate in spring, but I would still be taking classes in the summer. So, I thought about it, and I decided that I would just move my graduation date to Fall 2010 - because summer classes would cost just as much or even more as a regular quarter (because you pay by the unit during summer, rather than a flat rate of tuition for a full course load during the Spring/Fall/Winter quarters). Anyways...I just got an email from UCR about Spring 2010 enrollment, and when I looked at the class schedule, they are not even OFFERING BUS 104!!!!! Additionally, they are not offering BUS 106....the Finance class I have to re-take becuase I failed it the first time (really hard class, and my first EVER finance class...I know, excuses, but those are pretty darn GOOD excuses!!!!). Now I am not sure what I am going to do! I sent an e-mail to my advisor asking her what my options are, and if the courses I need are DEFFINITLY NOT going to be offered...Ah crap, here we go again! UCR is pissing me off, but I have no control over any of it! I really wish it were all over!

I'm so sorry Bethany. That is a way worse situation than mine. I can't believe that UCR is doing this to you. I know that you petitioned to get into the class you needed and were denied. I'm sure that with all the economy and budget cut stuff that is going on in our lovely world now a-days isn't helping the situation any. I am sorry. On the bright side you will always have girls night to vent and talk to us about it with! I know that we can't help you with the registering (not even you can help that) but we will always be there for you!! You and I don't really have the best of luck with the school systems Love you! We'll get through this and look back and be relieved!

I did not get the class that I need to transfer (math 11 or 12) but I am on the wait list so hopefully I can get added. There is still a little hope!! But I won't know if I get added until classes start (not till the 16/17 ish). Other than that I am registered in enough classes to be full time again so at least I will get put back on my insurance! Also, if I don't end up in my math this semester I can try and get in over summer and still get to go to San Bernardino in the fall. So for right now I am happy that I get my insurance back and am finally a student again!!

YEAH!!!!! Finally something is going right! I am so glad to hear that you got added to the class without having to beg or enter a "lottery" to get added into the course.

I finally got my letter of "conditional" admission to Cal State San Bernardino. It is a relief to know that I got in again. Now I can look forward to registering for Fall. I'm on the road to transferring. Now all I need to do is pass my math class and everything will be all good!

Re: School Stuff June 14th, 2010, 9:31 am
So My math Teacher posted grades and I got a "B" in Statistics! I am so happy that I got a good grade and passed that dang class!!! No more math for me!! (this is where I do my happy dance but you can't see it) I am just waiting for one more grade to post (which will be an "A") and then I can order and send my final transcripts to CSUSB. Next on my list of this to do is fill out the FASFA and pay for the classes. Finally, big-kid college here I come!!!!!!

Such an accomplishment. I'm appreciating your little victory dance, I'm imagining it in my head, and I have to say...it's pretty amazing. Statistics sucks, but you did it lady! Big kid college will be amazing. Thanks for keeping us all updated.
