Patches = Awesomeness, but I am sad when I don't get to play Maple Story.

yeah it is really disappointing when they do that because it is always when i am trying to play. oh well it does make things better, TAKE THAT STUPID HACKERS!

oh man, the maple events going on for their 2 year anniversary are crazy. check out the web page for more details. i think we need to have another maple party SOON!! like THIS FRIDAY!!

well it appears that Nexon has released a statement about Maple story and i think it is somewhat of a bummer. they are now saying that "kill Stealing" hackers is just as bad as hacking itself and you can get in trouble for doing it. well poo...

they also say that they are banning people using some server "logs" that they are now running because they know what to look for. two things jump out at me when i read about their new efforts to combat hacking:

1. why the heck don't they patch up the method that the hackers are using.
2. it just sounds to me like they have devised a way to be more lazy.

honestly i usually see dozens of hackers every time i log on and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. i have also NEVER seen a GM or anyone getting banned and i have been all over the maple story universe.

i would like to see a hack reporting monitor tool implemented in to the game. it would (or should) operate like the quest tool where you can see the status of people you report and even if you never get anything from it you will see the fruits of your own effort. i think that would encourage a lot more people to use the reporting tool and hackers to fear getting caught.

i would also like to see someone grow some balls over at Nexon and start banning people for life. that would certainly scare a lot of people away from hacking if there was the possibility that they would loose everything.

the funny part to all this is that through all the frustration with hackers and being a bowman (one of the hardest, if not the hardest, class in Maple Story) is that i will continue playing. MAPLE STORY!!!!

Right after they implemented the big maple story patch which let you report more then 1 user a day and various other stuff they broadcasted random hackers who had been banned about once an hour, just one of the random things they would broadcast.

Most other games I know of don't inform you when somebody gets banned either, I'm not sure if it's part of the privacy policy or just something to cover their ass so they can be lazy but both Everquest and WOW they're officially "Not allowed" to tell you what happens to other players that you report.

As for the hacker situation getting better I'm not sure if it ever will, maple story is in theory a free game, which even with people dumping tons of money on nexon cash I doubt nexon will reinvest any of that money into more GMs / people to help stop the hacker situation. From what I've seen, sure hackers suck but they're not stopping anyone from playing Maple Story so why would Nexon spend money to fix the problem when they won't be making any more.
