The Lion King October 22nd, 2008, 10:29 am
The Lion King could not have happened because all the main animals live in southern Africa but Mandrills live farther north so it wouldn't have been there to hold up Simba on the big rock. Also, warthogs don't eat bugs.

well, warthogs are adaptable according to that page, so i wouldn't say they never eat bugs. if the need arises, maybe they adapt to climb trees and eat bugs and team up with meerkats.
also according to that page, mandrills are feeling the squeeze from human settlements, so maybe one rafiki migrated south to set an example for the rest of the mandrills.

The talking animals thing seemed like a good point at first Thomas but I think Stephen shot that down pretty good. And I like your reasoning Corey. All things considered it looks like our consensus is the Lion King could have happened (which makes me happy).
I was thinking of doing The Jungle Book next but I'll postpone that and begin my research on TaleSpin.
ETA: I just realized that alot of the characters from TaleSpin were sort of ripped off from The Jungle Book... lazy Disney people.

Re: The Lion King October 24th, 2008, 11:25 am
Alright, so starting off easy, Khan is a Bengal Tiger.
And Baloo's mechanic friend is an Asian Lion. Can't be an African Lion because there are no bears in Africa (good to know).
The tricky part is figuring out what kind of bears they are. I'm thinking Kit and Becky are brown bears because their brown. Logic.
But Baloo is something else. At first I was thinking Sloth Bear because then he'd be in India with the rest of them. But he doesn't look like that at all. He looks like a Black Bear. Which doesn't make sense considering where they're from. But then I remembered that he can fly planes. So thats ok.
Don Karnage has got to be an Indian Wolf since they have the right coloration and live in India with everyone else.
Louie is an orangutan
And those warthog looking soldiers that they mixed up with sometimes were warthogs. Again, logic.
In conclusion I believe TaleSpin took place in India, along the coast (because Baloo's plane had the water landing things). And it had to be the east coast so they could fly over to Africa and fight the warthogs.
The only thing I can't explain is how Louie ended up so far from home.

Something tells me Nicole has too much time on her hands. And bashing Disney movies? For shame, you're ruining my child hood. I was born and raised Disney you know!

In the original Kipling tale it says Baloo was a "sleepy old grey bear" problem is that isn't really a type of bear. The closest thing would be the but they live in Armenia. The only type of bear that does live in India is the sloth bear as Nico so accurately researched. I think this remains a mystery. What could Kipling have meant?

Re: The Lion King October 30th, 2008, 1:42 pm
old grey it kind of redundant then. If we replace grey with old then we get that Baloo is "an old old bear". Why would you say it twice, unless he means like really old.
Deep....
