i was browsing the forum and noticed that some of you didn't have avatars. well i got creative for a few minutes and gave you guys avatars, hope you like them!

How to get to your Avatar Control Panel

you can change your avatar at any time if you want by clicking "Profile" above
scroll down to the "avatar control center"



Your Options
you can upload a picture from your computer (Upload avatar from your machine) or a website (Upload a avatar from a URL). you can also link your picture to a different website (Link to off-site..) however i don't recommend that one because if that website disappears or moves the picture your avatar could break and that's no fun.

Limitations
now there are pixel and size limitations. these are there to keep the boards uniform and easy to work with. its pretty hard to read a post when someone uses a giant picture. the exact limitations are in the Avatar Control Panel.

Instructions

From your Computer
to upload a avatar from your computer just click the browse button on the "avatar control panel" and locate the picture that you want to use. this option is usually the hardest because most times the pictures on your computer are too big and don't fit the limitations.

an easy way to re-size an image is to go here:


Click "Quick Re-size"


Click "Browse" and find the picture that you want to re-size on your computer.


Click "Custom Size" and enter in a percentage to re-size the picture by.
i recommend 15% in both boxes if you are resizing a picture from your camera. you might have to try this multiple times to figure out what works.


Click "Re-size Pic!". it might take a minute because it has to download the picture from your computer and re-size it.


Click "Click here to download/Save As"


select a location to save the picture (you might want to verify that you can find and open the picture) and close the Pic Re-size website.

return to the X-INfERNO Avatar Control Panel, click browse and open the picture that you just downloaded. then click submit.

Congratulations you just changed your avatar!

Upload or Link to Off-Site Website(They are the same steps)

now if you want to find a picture quickly i recommend Google Images because they automatically give you a thumbnail of the picture so there is no resizing necessary. there is a catch though. if doing this i recommend using the upload function to prevent broken pictures.

just go to:

enter in your search parameters to find what you want. right click on the thumbnail of the picture that you want and click properties.

drag the mouse over the "Address URL" section and highlight the entire address. press [CTRL + C] on you keyboard to copy the highlighted text.

Click ok to close the properties window.

go back to the X-INfERNO Avatar Control Panel click the "Upload avatar from URL" text box and press [CTRL + V] to paste the address of your picture.

Click Submit and you are done!

Congratulations you just changed your Avatar!

Is there currently a problem with uploading avatars? I've uploaded things before with no problem but currently I just get the message "File must be JPG, GIF, or something else!" I've tried it all and I can't get it.

Am I being dumb or is something just kaput this late at night?

I still can't get it to work, Everytime I try to upload something from my computer or another website it tells me "Avatar must be .jpg, .gif, .jnp".

Is a link to what I'm looking for. It's the picture that says "American gladiators, push start button now" if you wanna hook me up! It needs a lil' bit of a resizing job, but I just can't get it to work!

i am trying to update our forum to its latest version. that will most likely fix this issue.
