Re: I'm glad none of you do this...

sadly we should not be too suprised when this type of thing happens more and more often because it will. it seems that the upcoming generation has been spoiled and pampered so badly that i am seeing things like this occur with concerning frequency.
another unfortunate thing contributing to this is that personal responsibility is no longer taught to children. behavior is often dismissed on grounds of too much sugar, video games, TV, or movies without addressing the real issue; teaching your kid that acting like a tool is wrong.
a annoying outcome of all of this is the blame being passed onto the video game manufacturers. while it is nice that microsoft added to the sum to help find the kid; i really think that it is a shallow gesture. the only real way to help find this kid would be to send an entire microsoft office up there and start combing the woods but they can't do that for everyone.
whenever i read a story like this, where a kid goes nuts after something simple, the only thing i can think is "why didn't they discipline their kid earlier?". i understand that some children have problems that can make regular discipline ineffective. in that case it is the responsibility to get help for their kid and take care of it.
none of us have done this because, even if we don't want to admit it, our parents did a pretty good job teaching us all the things we need to be level headed members of society.
