Christmas Discussion November 18th, 2008, 1:42 pm
Hey everyone.
I know it's crazy but we already need to start thinking about Christmas party and gifts.
I wanted especially to see what everyone thought we should do about gifts.
We can either draw names out of a hat, buy presents for everyone we want to, or a mix of both.
I know a lot of people are poor right now, me included, and I thought drawing names would be cost effective.
What should we do? Discuss.

Re: Christmas Discussion November 18th, 2008, 4:50 pm
Tiffany and i talked about it and we thought it would be fun if people had to get two gifts. the first gift would have a limit of $20-25 and would be for a person that you would draw out of a hat/bowl/basket/bucket. this would be totally optional and would be the one gift that should be from you to that person only, NO re-gifting. this should be the more meaningful gift. the second gift would be for a gift exchange at the party. it should be expectd to be fun and have a limit of $10-15. this is more encouraged as it will be more fun at the party for every one to end up with something. oh and re-gift all you want on this one, it is expected . kind of a mix of ideas both old and new. any thoughts?

i dont think we should do two gifts.
there is going to be a white elephant gift exchange at my christmas party again anyway.
which is going to be the 13th, i havent had time to do the official invites yet.
but for heather and I two gifts each = 4 gifts = our budget is ridiculously tight already without christmas, so i'll eat socks for december.

Then again, I really do enjoy a good sock-based dinner.

no one does, that's the beauty of it!
if i did the xmas party when everyone else does, no one would come!
you sure you cant throw away all of your responsibilities and fly in early?
just tell your patients: "baby steps!" and they'll be fine.

Nick, I am so excited for your Christmas party. Heather and I were talking last night and I was telling her that I look forward to it every year. And part of the awesomeness is that it isn't actually around Christmas. It's perfect! I like the idea of the two gifts, but I think we should integrate with Nick's party. So that we each have one meaningful gift to give out to close friends at a little Christmas get together and then the white elephant at Nicks. And then, if some people want to buy other gifts for others they can but don't have to feel obligated. I'm excited for your party Nick! Hurray! =D (NICK IS SUPER AMAZING!) Btw, I miss you.

When Nick made the comment about eatting socks for dinner I thought he meant having a dinner where we exchanged socks. That would be kind of fun but most people probably wouldn't wear the socks they recieved. But then you would also have to figure out sizes and stuff.
I can't think of anything I really want for Christmas, let's just all buy different versions of Pokemon and we can exchange those and then we can all play Pokemon for Christmas.
